Lauren & Matt’s Elegant Spring Wedding | The Ivy House
There are some weddings that immediately feel like they belong at The Ivy House, and Lauren & Matt’s day was absolutely one of them. Everything about their wedding felt soft, elegant, intentional, and full of the kind of emotion that reminds me why I love photographing weddings so much.
From the moment I walked into the bridal suite, I already knew this was going to be one of those galleries I would obsess over while editing. Every detail was thoughtfully chosen, but nothing felt overdone. It all flowed together so naturally, from the pastel spring florals to the romantic greenhouse ceremony space to the way Lauren and Matt looked at each other all day long.
The details alone deserved their own moment.
Lauren had the most beautiful flat lay details prepared, filled with soft blue, blush, peach, and white florals that perfectly reflected the entire wedding design. Her invitation suite was elegant and timeless, paired with delicate heirloom touches, perfume, and the sweetest little personal details scattered throughout. Everything about the styling felt like spring in the most refined, romantic way.
And then there was her robe.
One of the most meaningful details from the entire day was the robe Lauren wore while getting ready. It was made from her mom’s wedding dress, and honestly, I don’t think there was a dry eye in the room once everyone realized the significance behind it. It was such a beautiful way to honor her mom while creating something entirely her own. Those are always the details that end up meaning the most years later.
Lauren’s wedding dress was absolutely stunning. The fitted silhouette paired with the floral appliqué detailing felt so perfect for a spring wedding at The Ivy House. It was elegant and modern while still feeling incredibly romantic. And once she added the cathedral-length veil? Completely unreal. Every time the veil caught the light or moved in the wind during portraits, it created the dreamiest images.
Matt and the groomsmen wore classic grey suits, which balanced everything perfectly. The bridesmaids wore mismatched gold dresses that added so much warmth and elegance to the overall look of the day. Paired with the soft pink, white, peach, and blue florals, the entire wedding party looked absolutely incredible against the glass greenhouse backdrop of The Ivy House.
Speaking of the greenhouse… the ceremony space was honestly one of my favorite parts of the entire day.
The greenhouse ceremony at The Ivy House is already breathtaking on its own, but Lauren & Matt completely transformed it with the most beautiful hanging floral installation. I could not stop photographing it. The florals suspended from the ceiling combined with the overflowing floral arrangements at the ceremony cross made the space feel soft, organic, and romantic without taking away from the beauty of the venue itself.
The natural light pouring through the glass during the ceremony created the most peaceful atmosphere. It felt intimate while still being grand, which is honestly what makes The Ivy House such an incredible Michigan wedding venue. Every angle feels beautiful there.
After the ceremony, we explored the property for portraits, and spring weddings at The Ivy House truly never disappoint. Between the greenhouse architecture, the clean white exterior, the greenery, and the warm spring sunshine, every single backdrop photographed beautifully.
Lauren and Matt made portraits feel effortless. They were playful, calm, and completely wrapped up in each other the entire day. Some of my favorite moments came from the in-between interactions, Lauren laughing into Matt’s shoulder, the way he looked at her when she fixed his tie, or the quiet moments where they forgot anyone else was around. Those are always the moments I love capturing most because they tell the story of the day in the most honest way.
One thing I especially loved was how their wedding party brought so much energy while still matching the elegance of the day. The bridesmaids in gold satin dresses and the groomsmen in grey created such a timeless color palette, and every group photo felt effortlessly editorial while still being full of personality and fun.
And then the reception space…
I was genuinely obsessed with the black and white checkered dance floor. It added the perfect modern statement piece to the wedding design while still fitting seamlessly with the elegance and softness of the rest of the day. Once the dancing started, the entire reception came alive. The combination of candlelight, florals, music, and all of their favorite people celebrating together made the night feel so warm and joyful.
Lauren & Matt’s wedding at The Ivy House was the perfect example of how elegant weddings can still feel deeply personal and emotional. Every detail reflected them so beautifully, and the entire day felt intentional from beginning to end.
If you’re planning your own The Ivy House Wedding, let this be your sign to fully embrace the romance of the venue. Between the greenhouse ceremony space, the natural light, and the timeless atmosphere, it truly is one of the most beautiful wedding venues in Michigan, especially in the spring.
To the newlyweds, Mr. and Mrs. Kintz,
Words truly cannot express how grateful I am that you trusted me to capture such an important chapter of your lives. From the second I arrived, your day felt warm, joyful, and so incredibly intentional. You both created an atmosphere where everyone felt loved, welcomed, and fully present, and that kind of energy is something you can genuinely feel while photographing a wedding day.
From the emotional details woven throughout the morning to the way you looked at each other during your ceremony in the greenhouse, every part of your wedding reflected who you are so beautifully. I still can’t get over the florals, Lauren’s stunning dress and veil, or the way your family and friends celebrated you both all day long.
Thank you for allowing me to not only document your wedding day, but to experience it alongside you. It was such an honor to witness the beginning of your marriage and capture memories that you’ll carry with you forever.
xo, Lexie
